How to cite Harpd
Quick answer
How do I cite Harpd data?
Use the canonical dataset URL, the data date and the CC BY 4.0 licence. Plain text, academic, Markdown, BibTeX and HTML attribution snippets are ready to copy below. Rank Points are promotional placement, so say what the number is, not what it is not.

Every public Harpd dataset lives under /data/ in JSON and CSV — the Rank board at /data/rank.json (and/data/rank.csv), citations at/data/citations.json, and the evidence graph at/data/evidence.json. Human-readable guides sit next to each dataset (/data/rank/README,/data/pricing/README,/data/benchmarks/README,/data/research/README), and the whole collection is packaged for redistribution at /data/open-data/. Always quote the record's own updatedAt or lastUpdated as the data date.
How to use the API
Public reads need no key. Start at the public API reference: the /data/* datasets, the Rank API family, and machine-readable page payloads at /api/seo/page/.... The field dictionary is published at/data/schema.json so a consumer can validate what a field means before quoting it.
How to embed Rank
Embeds live at /embed/ (the Rank embed is at/embed/rank/). They are lightweight, responsive, iframe-safe and canonicalized back to the live board. Every embed carries an attribution-required Powered by Harpd link to the relevant canonical page — redistribution must keep it.
How to reference research
Research reports are published at /research/ (method at/research/methodology/) and are reproducible from immutable closed snapshots at /data/rank-history.json. Cite the report URL, the covered month and the family, and link the dataset so a third party can recompute the figure: report + snapshot + method, never the prose alone.
How to attribute CC BY 4.0 data
Harpd datasets are licensed under CC BY 4.0. Attribution means three things: name the source (Source: Harpd), link the canonical URL (https://harpd.com/data/), and name the licence. Copy the HTML attribution card above for the exact wording. Methodology lives at/rank/methodology/ with the machine-readable mirror at/data/methodology.json, and the rule the licence enforces in prose: Rank Points are promotional placement purchased with Credits — never describe them as editorial quality.
