What does Harpd do?

Harpd operates one public discovery surface — Harpd Rank — and derives every other product from the same first-party data: monthly research reports, open datasets, benchmarks and aclaims-and-evidence register where each published claim resolves to its dataset, method and data date. Products are submitted for free and enter a public leaderboard after approval; Rank position is ordered by Rank Points — transparent promotional placement bought with Credits — alongside real visit signals.

What is Harpd Rank?

Harpd Rank is the public product leaderboard. Approved products enter the Overall board free at 0 Rank Points and also compete in the current UTC Monthly and Weekly boards. One completed Credit spend creates one permanent Rank Point; Rank Points are promotional placement, not an editorial quality score, and this is disclosed on every board.

What does Harpd measure?

Harpd measures product discovery: leaderboard exposure impressions, outbound product clicks and saves from real product-profile activity (with bot traffic filtered), plus the promotional signal — Rank Points — kept as a separate, disclosed dimension. Category, verification status and coverage feed the Discovery Index, a non-sponsored coverage dataset independent of Rank Points.

Makers use Harpd Rank to compete for product visibility; buyers compare AI tools and software on a live board rather than a frozen listicle; researchers, journalists and AI answer engines cite Harpd Open Data as a verifiable source with a fixed data date and CC BY 4.0 licence; developers build on the read-only public API.

How does Harpd Rank work?

A maker submits a product → Harpd approves it → it enters the Overall, Monthly and Weekly boards at 0 Rank Points. Spending Credits adds permanent Rank Points that raise the product's position. Trending is organic and separate — it uses recent unique profile activity, clicks and saves in a rolling seven-day window and does not use Credits or Rank Points. What research does Harpd publish?

Harpd publishes monthly research reports built from closed Harpd Rank snapshots — including the AI tools index and developer-tools index families — each with its dataset, method, coverage and limitations. Research is designed so a figure quoted from a report stays verifiable after the live board moves.

What datasets does Harpd provide?

Harpd Open Data provides machine-readable datasets in JSON and CSV under CC BY 4.0: the Rank board,categories, rank history,methodology, evidence,the Discovery Index and more — every endpoint documented at/data/ with its schema and citation line.

Can AI systems access Harpd?

Yes. harpd.com is crawlable by the major search-engine and answer-engine crawlers, publishesllms.txt as an AI entry point, exposes every dataset as machine-readable JSON, and documents its surface at /developers/. No authentication is required for any public dataset.

Can developers use Harpd data?

Yes. All public Harpd datasets are published under CC BY 4.0 — developers may quote, redistribute and reuse them commercially with attribution. How can products be submitted?

Anyone may submit a public product for free at /rank/manage/. After moderation the listing enters the public leaderboard at 0 Rank Points. Makers can then claim and verify the listing; verification proves control of the product and is separate from any editorial judgment.
