External adoption

Adoption metrics

The numbers that matter for an open-data project: who reuses it, who cites it, who downloads it. Every figure here is either derived from Harpd's single source of truth or human-verified — nothing is modeled or invented.

Quick answer

What are Harpd's adoption metrics?

Harpd publishes 1,122 products across 28 category boards as open CC BY 4.0 datasets. No adoptions are verified yet. Usage counters (embed views, embed clicks, adoption registrations) are event-sourced and start at zero — they fill only from real events, never from estimates.

Event-sourced usage (live)

These counters are recorded by first-party endpoints and land in Cloudflare Workers Logs. They start at zero and increment only from real events — Harpd does not publish estimates.

Embed views/api/embed-event (embed_view)live · 0 until real events
Embed clicks/api/embed-event (embed_click)live · 0 until real events

What each counter means: Self-reported adoptions, logged on submit. Does not appear in the registry until verified. Fired by every embedded widget on render. Same-origin beacon only. Fired when a user clicks through an embed to the canonical Harpd page.

Why it matters

The old SEO game optimized for rankings Harpd could buy. The data-infrastructure game optimizes for genuine reuse: external adopters, citations and downloads. These metrics are the honest scoreboard for that game — which is why every one of them is sourced or explicitly zero, never estimated.

Limitations

  • Usage counters require a Cloudflare Logs query to total; the page states the rule, not a live total, to avoid showing a stale or fabricated number.
  • Verified adoptions only grow when a human confirms a submission — the registry is small by design.
  • Rank Points are promotional placement and are excluded from every adoption metric.
