When a Harpd Rank period closes, the board is snapshotted once and never edited again. Each snapshot is a data drop: a permanent, dated, citable record of what the board looked like at that boundary. Quote a drop and your number stays true, because the drop itself cannot move.

Why closed periods are the citable ones
A live board answers "what is true right now", and by definition that answer changes. A closed period answers "what was true for the whole of 2026-08", and that answer never changes. If a claim needs to survive being quoted months later, cite the drop rather than the live board.

- Cite the close date, not the date you read the page.
- Rank Points in a drop are still promotional placement — placement as it stood on that date.

Method
Each period is snapshotted once, after it closes in UTC. The snapshot records the placements and product count as they stood at the boundary and is never rewritten afterwards, so a drop is reproducible: the same period key always returns the same numbers. Full methodology →

Limitations
- A drop records placements at the close boundary only; it is not a statement about any other day in the period.
- Product counts reflect approved listings present in the snapshot — later additions or removals do not retroactively change a closed drop.
- Rank Points inside a drop remain promotional placement, not an editorial quality score.
