The mechanics, plainly
The month boundary is UTC, so the period is unambiguous across time zones. Within the period, products are ordered by the same rules as the Overall board applied to that window. At close, the state is captured as a snapshot and published under its period key, where it never changes again.

Why it matters
Monthly granularity is what makes movement visible: a product can be climbing even when its all-time position is low. Immutable archives are what make that claim checkable after the month is over.

Can I see a past month?
Yes — closed months are published at /rank/history/ with their own dataset, provided the period held enough listings to be meaningful.
Does the Monthly board ignore Rank Points?
No. It applies the same ordering rule as Overall, scoped to the month window. The entirely organic view is Trending, which excludes paid input altogether.
